Talladega Superspeedway
Talladega, AL
NASCAR Nextel Cup looks for some
southern hospitality when the
Aaron's 499 takes on the Talladega
Superspeedway in Alabama on April
26, 2009! The big, 2.7-mile
Talladega Superspeedway track is
known for races with lots of passing
and cars traveling four or five cars
wide. |
 |
Jeff Gordon took home the win in
2007 and in a exciting 2008, we watched
Kyle Busch come from a lap down
to win the Aaron's 499. What driver will win the
Aarons 499 in 2009?
The power and strength of this 2.66 mile
beast of a track is unparalleled with
any other in the world. The 33 degrees
of banking around the track and
and 18
degrees in the front tri-oval make
handling a secondary consideration.
Talladega is big, fast, and all about
horsepower and drafting.
The
distance allows for the drivers to just
mash the pedal and drive.
Wagering on NASCAR is often based on
looking into the previous year's NASCAR
race results at specific locations or
for specific races. This holds
especially true for Super speedway
restrictor-plate races in the NASCAR
season.
In 2007, Jeff Gordon was the defending
champion of the last two spring races at
Talladega. Gordon also carries the
distinction of have led the most laps at
Talladega of any driver currently
racing. With four career wins at the
track, it is difficult not to think
NASCAR bets will be heavily in his favor
this week.
The race will be on FOX and they start
at 1:30 PM. We'll go live at 2:15 PM.
Don't
forget to get your Aaron's 499 race bets
in and remember this race is schedules
for
April 26th.

The Texas Motor Speedway was once considered to
be the fastest non-restrictor plate race on the
NASCAR tour with qualifying speeds in excess of
192 mph and corner entry speeds of over 200 mph.
Brian Vickers holds the record for the fastest
qualifying time at 196.235 mph. You will likely
see the same cast of characters at the front of
the pack- Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Jeff
Gordon, Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch, and Jeff
Burton. Texas Motor Speedway was the first track
to install a different type lap counter, one
that counts the laps remaining and also the laps
that have been run.
The Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas,
is a quad oval-track is banked 24 degrees in
turns and is 1.5 miles in circumference. Opening
in 1996, the Texas Motor Speedway boasts a
seating capacity of 212,585. This 9 turn
superspeedway is very similar to Lowe’s Motor
Speedway (formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway) and
Atlanta Motor Speedway. All three tracks are
owned by Speedway Motor Sports. (Bristol Motor
Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee is also owned by
Speedway Motor Sports.) Track capacity is
212,585 people.
The Texas Motor Speedway, or TMS, is the Home of
the NASCAR Nextel Cup races, the Craftsman Truck
Series, and the Sprint Cup Series. TMS is the
track that hosted Brian Vickers’ spectacular
record breaking qualifying run in the Dickies
500 in 2006. Other records that have been set
there include times for the Samsung 500, Dickies
500, Siverado 350K, Sam’s Town 400, O’Reilly
Challenge, and the O’Reilly 300. The track is
also the home of the Bombardier Learjet 550
(Indy Racing League IndyCar Series).

With over a 50-years history, the National Association of
Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) has enjoyed a growth in its
prestige, fan base, prize money, importance and devotion.
NASCAR's inaugural season began in 1948 with the first NASCAR-sanctioned
stock car race staged on the Daytona Beach, Fla., road course
on February 15.
The NASCAR Busch Series was added to NASCAR portfolio in 1982
and has earned a well-deserved reputation as a training ground
for future NASCAR Winston Cup stars. Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte,
Dale Jarrett, Ward and Jeff Burton are just a few of the current
regulars who participate. And some drivers even choose to
spend their entire racing careers in the NASCAR series. Today,
two of the top-four attended forms of motorsports in the USA
are NASCAR-sanctioned divisions.
