2012 Pure Michigan 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Live Odds |
The CARFAX 400 is one of the two NASCAR Sprint Cup races run at one of the sport’s fastest ovals, Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. Although there is nothing particularly unique about the configuration of Michigan International, the two-mile superspeedway allows drivers to easily exceed 200 mph and that makes for some of the most thrilling races on the NASCAR schedule.
Michigan International Speedway
Michigan International Speedway, located in the scenic Irish Hills area of southeastern Michigan is a perfect destination for NASCAR enthusiasts who love the outdoors. The track is a two-mile moderate-banked D-shaped superspeedway located on more than 1,400 acres near Brooklyn, MI. Michigan is now one of the fastest tracks in NASCAR due to its wide, sweeping corners and long straight-aways; typical qualifying speeds are in excess of 190 mph and corner entry speeds easily exceed 200 mph.
Michigan International Speedway is the main track for NASCAR but has been known to be the base track of the Auto Club Speedway. The International Speedway Corporation owns this track and many others in the NASCAR circuit. Michigan International Speedway and the Carfax 400 are viewed as the top race and track of the NASCAR racing season.
Michigan International is known not only for being a fast track, but also one that occasionally produces spectacular crashes. Back in ’03, Kurt Busch and Todd Bodine hit the wall in turn 2 and ended up in a fiery crash, but thankfully both drivers walked away from it with no injuries.
Odds to Win 2012 Michigan Carfax 400
Carfax 400 Winners
2011 Pure Michigan 400 Winner
Kyle Busch wins 2011 Pure Michigan 400 by overtaking Johnson with 30 laps remaining of the scheduled 200-lap race, then held him off during a green-white-checkered finish. It's Busch’s first career victory at Michigan, but, more importantly, it moved him into sole possession of first place in the Sprint Cup standings — 10 points ahead of Johnson, who is still winless at Michigan after 23 starts.
2010 Carfax 400 Winner
Kevin Harvick already had horsepower, handling and the Nascar Sprint Cup series points lead. Now he has a victory this season at a track other than Talladega or Daytona. Harvick battled past Denny Hamlin with 11 laps to go on the two-mile track and pulled away for his third victory of the year. In winning, Harvick also became the first driver to qualify for the Chase.
Harvick's margin over Hamlin at the end was 1.731 seconds. Carl Edwards finished third, followed by Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth.
2009 Carfax 400 Winner
Brian Vickers sped past Jimmie Johnson with two laps to go Sunday and went on to win the 2009 CARFAX 400 NASCAR race at Michigan International Speedway. Vickers, who had started on the pole for Toyota, held off Jeff Gordon by 1.4 seconds and earned his second career Sprint Cup Series victory. |
