The Subway
Fresh Fit 600 had its inaugural race in
2005 and since then, has become a very
important early Sprint Cup Series race.
The Subway Fresh Fit 600 is unique in
that it’s one of three races measured in
kilometers and one of the few races held
at night.
The race
formerly known as the Subway 500 and
Subway Fresh Fit 600, is now known as
the Subway Fresh Fit 500. The Subway
Fresh Fit 500 is a NASCAR Sprint Cup
Series stock car race held annually at
Phoenix International Raceway in
Avondale, Arizona. The race, a 312 lap
event that actually is one of only three
NASCAR series events measured in
kilometers
rather than miles or laps. Phoenix
International Raceway facilities have
been used not only for NASCAR but also
for events
including IRL (Indy Racing League),
Rolex Sports Car Series, and the
prestigious 'Copper World Classic.
Phoenix International Speedway. Although
the track is new to the NASCAR Sprint
Cup series, Phoenix International
Speedway is
known for its unusual tri-oval shape and
has been used by the Indy Racing League.
At one mile, Phoenix is a mid-length
track in a “D” shaped tri-oval. While
Phoenix is a relatively flat track, with
a mere 11 degree banking, the action is
still very intense, and you will see
drivers pushing their cars to the limits
and getting sideways coming out of turns
two and four. This lets you know that
every driver means business, and every
driver wants to get to that finish line
quicker than the rest.
The past few years have been a who’s who
of NASCAR, with Jimmie Johnson, Kurt
Busch, Jeff Gordon, and Kevin Harvick
all notching wins at Phoenix
International.
